Inaugural National MSME Summit for Entrepreneurs holds in Abuja

MSMEThe inaugural edition of the National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Summit Target Audience would be drawn from the following sectors:

Agro & Agro Allied, Wholesale & Retail Trade, Hotel & Restaurants, Financial Services & Intermediation, Educational Services, Manufacturing & Industries, Healthcare & Social Works, Building & Construction, Mining & Quarrying, Entertainment & Events, Tourism & Hospitality, E-commerce & IT, Organized Road Transport , Storage & Communications.

Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in partnership with Friends Africa are organizing the inaugural edition of the National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Summit which plans to bring together key stakeholders in Government and the private sector as well as thousands of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises from all over Nigeria to discuss the key issued identified in the National Policy on MSMEs as well as health in a 2-day summit which would be followed by 6 months mentoring program.

Following this summit, selected SMEs who possess some practical business experience would be matched with qualified mentors as protégés for a period of 6 months. Protégés who emerge from the mentoring program with 80%-100% score would be recommended for grant awards by SMEDAN, CBN, etc. and other identified venture capitalists.

The project is in line with the Federal Government’s initiatives to develop the small and medium enterprise industry in order to meet the overall Vision 2020 goals of Nigeria becoming one of the top 20 countries of the world to invest in.
