APPLY: CTI Offers Software Engineering Scholarships for 2014 -2015

CTIThe Centre for Technology Innovation (CTI) is calling for applications for its 2014 Software Engineering Scholarship positions. Located in Lagos, CTI deploys an interdisciplinary approach that combines learning in the liberal arts with core computer programming modules, rooted deeply in practice-based learning. CTI aims to train engineers who can write good code, and develop critical thinking skills and appreciate the consequences of technological innovation in a developing world context. The program is full-time, free and for 12 months. Students spend six months infull time training, and then go into six month placements at partner technology companies for industrial experience. All past students who have successfully completed the program are currently employed or building startups of their own.


Accepted candidates receive a monthly stipend starting at N15,000 for the first three months with an increase to N60,000 in later months during industrial placements. Also included are free computing facilities, free high speed internet, access to books, learning resources and hands-on direction and support from practicing software engineers, entrepreneurs and academics with broad international experience. Students who successfully finish the program come out with valuable software development and critical thinking skills that guarantees a job at a partner technology company.

The top one or two graduates will be awarded a CTI Fellowship for one year. The fellowship comes with an all-expense paid one month residency at iHub in Nairobi, Kenya or other international location, an attractive salary package, office space and resources to work on a problem of the student’s choosing for one year.

The ideal candidate for a CTI scholarship is a highly motivated individual who possess the discipline to conduct independent scholarship, the ability to think creatively and a strong disposition toward building things. No software development experience is required and we accept students from any discipline.

Eligibility Criteria

1. You must possess a grade of first class or second class upper in any discipline

2. You must have completed NYSC.

3. You are available to commit to full-time study.

4. You are a citizen of Nigeria or West African country.
