Recall that the application portal for the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) opened on Jan 1, 2015 and closed on March 1, 2015?

Over 20,000 applications were received from a wide range of African entrepreneurs across gender, ages, geographical spread, maturity of venture and with interests in diverse sectors, ranging from agriculture, ICT, retail, media, education to energy, training, fashion, and many more.

A carefully appointed Selection Committee (www.tonyelumelufoundation.org/teep/about-us/selection-committee), comprising industry experts, renowned entrepreneurs, business and developmental experts from across Africa, was assembled to frame and validate the process of arriving at the final list of successful applicants.

Following this, an independent review consultant, the Accenture Development Partnerships, has thoroughly evaluate each application based on selection criteria approved by the TEEP Selection Committee (www.tonyelumelufoundation.org/teep/terms-conditions).

“We are delighted to dedicate our expertise in the evaluation of thousands of applications from across the continent and partner with the Foundation on this historic initiative to empower African entrepreneurs” said Niyi Yusuf, Country Managing Partner, Accenture.

The evaluation criteria included:
* Feasibility
* Market Opportunity
* Financial Understanding
* Scalability
* Leadership Potential and Entrepreneurial Skills

As a next step, the Selection Committee is meeting on Monday, March 23, 2015 for the final selection of the 1000 applicants who will form the TEEP Class of 2015, the maiden cohort of TEEP entrepreneurs. Respective announcements will be made thereafter.
